For more than 20 years, I’ve come home with colored fingers.
When you run meetings for a living, it comes with the job. The good news is that I’ve grown fond of one type of markers. My bag always has a fresh set of Mr. Sketch Assorted Scent Markers
1. Non-Toxic
I’ll be the first to admit, I can’t spend much time around full-powered dry-erase markers. Permanent markers create similar problems for me. The fumes are headache producers.
These markers are water-based, and actually smell good to me. I can sniff them all day without ill-effects.
2. They Don’t Bleed
A solid flip chart stand comes in handy, but sometimes there isn’t one available. Assuming I still have a flip chart pad available, the wall then serves as my easel. When that happens, you don’t want ink soaking its way through the paper and onto the wall.
3. They’re Fun
They are food-scented. Most of them smell tasty, probably more so if you are a kid who likes sugary snacks. There is one exception. Don’t get me started on light green. That one smells like chalky medicine. Even then, I don’t feel sick from using it.
When meeting participants see these markers, they comment about using them in their childhoods. Those who aren’t familiar with them discover the smells and soon are pulling off caps and giving each a sniff.
My Only Quibble
If I was to offer the fine folks at Mr. Sketch a bit of advice, it would be that meeting facilitators don’t have much use for yellow and light pink. Participants can’t see them. I have a bag of these colors that will never be used. Perhaps you should make a set for people who run meetings. Toss in a couple duplicates for blue and black.
Two for One
Markers are a basic meeting tool. These write well and hold up a good long time. I suppose most markers do.
Because these give you the value-added fun element, they will forever be my favorite meeting marker.
